Well it held enough air to get to America’s Tire and then mounted a loaner tire while they sourced a replacement. Surprisingly, even though I did not buy any of the damage insurance, there prorated the tire wear on the new tire. I was expecting to buy a full replacement..

Always got good service from the guys on Stevens Creek..

You will always be able to grab a ride with for the first few runs in each run group.

You are welcome in mine. Just look for the Phoenix Yellow E46 M3 in A class..

I support Daves comment.. Just jump in.. Plenty of people to coach and assist you in your first AX.

I did that race a couple of years ago.. From memory I had to get up a 5am to be on the startline on time. It was all over bar the stragglers by lunch time..

I assume you are running 255’s all around so you don’t have the e46 problem of staggered tire width.. But you do have those pesky front wheel trying to drive the car around.

Does the RS have a sport setting or the like to change the amount of torque front to rear ?

    Cautiously I ask (expecting to be flamed);

We are dropping our worst event, right ? If yes, do we also drop the attendance point, or do all attendance points get added.

I think the answer is you keep the attendance point, because that is the reason for the points, but just checking.

Should the season points include summing up the number of attendance (column K)..

I love the tires… Thats why I replaced with the exact same.. They are great on the road and good on the course..

My wallet would prefer I get a set of 18″ wheels, so I have a cheaper range of even softer tires. Maybe next season if I can’t catch Mr Berton..

So all TopGear watchers will know drivers will have excuses, just like fisherman talk about the one that got away..

On Monday after the AX, the poor old Phoenix Yellow M3 was running on 3 cylinders. a couple of coils were gone. I noticed throttle pickup was pretty poor, but figured it was me.

The major issue on monday was two flat rear tires (picture attached). I was impressed that I got 15K miles on these RE11’s, but maybe I will replace after 1 season instead of 1 season and two AX’s.

Bring on the test ‘n tune to scrub off the new RE11’s

So last year I went from (after 1 year on them) Hankook Ventus V12 (Max Performance) to a Bridgestone RE11 (Extreme Performance) last year and I was probably .75 to 1 second closer (over a 60 second course) to identical spec cars and more consistent (because I did not over drive them as much trying to catch up)

You can look at historical times in A class for me to see the difference. I started last year on the new tire (the only change).

My gut feel is tyre pressure.. Sounds like you are running too low.. I know Tim Woo in the ISF was seriously chunking fronts on his..

    Couple of things..

How far on the outside of the tyre is chunking ?
Whats brand, model of tyre ?

I am a big fan of “tuning the nut behind the wheel” before looking at the car, but the tyre pressure is pretty critical. I spent a whole year wondering why I was 1 second slower than cars of identical spec. I was over driving the car, trying to find that extra time. Hitting the right tyre pressure and getting the same rubber as the equivalent cars made a lot of difference. Still had to lift my driving game, but the car felt more drivable. Particularly less understeer which is the killer.

I wouldn’t fuss too much with tyre pressure, but make sure you get a setting that maximizes the car and then you have a stable platform to hone your skills. Either use the chalk or talk to somebody with the equivalent car.

Sounds like you are up for some new tyres, so get some feedback from this group on a good tyre. I run a RE11 on a e46 M3 with 19″ rims, but your is a little heavier and might have some other tyre options.

I would not say “gone bad”.. I am pretty rough on t-shirts.. Just noticed a difference with the navy blue one and the rest..

I will still be buying at least 2 of the next batch..
