Hal- That split screen video is very interesting…..

If you look at the entrance to the right turn after the slalom, both of you are almost identical (within a few feet of each other, for sure). The big difference comes at the end of the long straight on the left side of the course- Praneil carried a lot more speed off of that straight into the zig-zag elements along the top.

Cool to see a comparison like that!

I still see it fine. Do you have some kind of ad-block that might be interfering with it?

You should be able to right-click on the link and open it in a new tab. That will open the image without any of the animation stuff getting in the way.

I like how it unravels itself.. Should be a nice challenge

Makes sense.. probably worth adding a 1-liner message to that effect on the car list screen.

Thanks for putting in the effort to build the classifier!

    Hi Kris,

Is there a way to edit your car’s info once you save it? It looks like right now you have to create a new profile and delete the original one…

Anybody else interested in instructing this coming weekend (Friday-Sunday)? I have a family issue that came up and had to cancel.

Perry told me he’s still looking for a couple people to help out this weekend, so if you have the background and the interest, please drop him an email (in the original posting by Hal).

    Hey Paul,

If you do go the ‘scuff’ approach, do not use aluminum oxide sandpaper since it will interact with the metal of the rotor. Stick with garnet. And a sanding block.

Of course to do that right you really need to unmount the rotors anyway so you can get to the back side of them. If you already have the new rotors in-hand already, it may not be worth the hassle.

I believe the yellow and blue Ate fluids (superblue and typ200) are identical except for the color.

If you mix them, you’ll end up with a lighter-blue color, but it won’t cause any problems.

Question: when you say you have ‘extra’, do you mean ‘unopened’? Because once you open a container of brake fluid, you should use it right away due to the hygroscopic nature of the fluid (it absorbs water from the atmosphere). Even if you keep the container tightly sealed after opening, the clock starts ticking after you break the seal, and it really needs to be used within a short timeframe (I’d avoid using it if it has been open for more than a few weeks).

When I flush my fluid, I make sure to buy 2 liters of fluid. If you don’t open the bottle, it has a very long shelf life, so it’s not a big deal if you end up not needing the additional fluid.

I looked back at the results from October, and the difference in times was pretty huge for a number of people.

I did a 52.4 in Oct, and managed a 50.3 yesterday (with absolutely no change to the car between the two–still running on 5 1/2 cylinders both times). Some of the difference was definitely from already having a bit a familiarity with the course. I think that taking that Evo School Phase II back in December helped too.

Anyway, times aside, the event yesterday was a ton of fun. Thanks to everyone for helping to make it a success!

    I’m in for the 14-17th.

Any suggestions for motion sickness prevention? I see that some hdpe driving instructors use Bonine…

Unfortunately the stock wheels on the 95 M3 are a 17×7.5 square set-up, so I can’t go wider than 235 with those. And if I’m going to go wider, I may as well go for as much rubber as I can fit under the fenders, so 9″ it will be!

Interesting.. the 235/40-17 are pricey compared to the Z1s (like >$20 more per tire). I wonder if it’s a volume thing since that size is also $10 more per tire than 255/40-17 ZIIs.

Might be time to finally pull the trigger on those 17×9″ wheels when I get my next set of tires…

    Awesome!

I sent an email to the city council earlier today, and I got a nice, personal reply from Mayor Delgado. Very nice to hear that there was unanimous support to keep MMS in operation.

I second the warm, sunny request. Can’t wait for the 19th!
