Unfortunately I’ll be out of town that weekend, so I’ll have to wait until 9/22 for my next event.

I’m not 100% sure, but it looks like maybe you missed the “exit gate” on the first section of the course right at the 0:11 mark in your video. You went to the left of the gate instead of going on the right side of the pointer cone. It’s a little easier to see in full screen mode.

I had a blast! Thanks to everyone today.. There were a lot of cones that needed to be picked up (I know I was responsible for a handful of them).

Had fun coaching too.. Very nice day overall.

I also want to congratulate James on schooling us in A. Nice driving!

It feels like i’ve been working on the car forever. It’s only been 7 months though. Only.

Engine sounds great, but I’m already regretting the poly motor and transmission mounts. They are transmitting some wicked vibrations to the inside of the car. I’m not sure if I need to play around with torque on them, so I’ll give them a chance before back-tracking.

Just got it aligned this morning–after all the suspension mucking with dropping the subframe and replacing the front control arms & bushings, my front toe was +1.5″.. you should have seen how unstable it was when I was driving to the alignment place. Kept me on my toes, for sure.

I’m looking forward to seeing an avus blue m3 running in A group.

    😉

Funny example. I’d be happy with a single first place this season…

Congrats to Paul on another top TDS time this past month. You’re making us (well, me at least) look bad out there. 🙂

This season they started giving 1 point for participation, but I don’t think it was ever clarified whether you get that participation point in addition to the standing points (thereby making a first place 21 points instead of 20). I had assumed that the extra point only applied to people in positions 10+, so they’d get 1 point instead of 0.

If that understanding is correct, then the spreadsheet should be tweaked to only sum from C to J for the season points, and to change the hard-coded 0 values to 1’s for those outside of position 10.

If we are actually giving a bonus point to everyone who shows up, this should be clarified from the bosses (jeff/rodger) so everyone is on the same page.

The big U-turn in the middle of the course was pretty high lateral G. If you slowed down a little and didn’t overdrive it, you may have managed to pull a higher g-force around that turn. This could have pushed your oil to the left side of the sump and possibly starved the pickup for a second.

I was dual-driving with Paul (which he hadn’t planned for), and we ended up getting fuel starvation after the U-turn on our last couple runs because the fuel level was < 1/4 tank at that point. The fuel was getting pushed to the left side of the tank (and the fuel pickup on E36's is on the right side).

Overfilling the oil by 1/2 quart is definitely the way to go with E36's.

I had a good time, for sure.

That car was an interesting challenge. The throttle control is way less predictable than the m3 — e-throttle plus automatic transmission just doesn’t have the same direct feel. Plus running on runflats with a stock suspension and alignment really made it feel like the front had no grip. The brakes worked *really* well though.

Also, I think the drivers in places 11+ were supposed to get 1 point each…

Wow, look at all those “A” and “B” class cars (all competing in A this month) in the the adjusted TDS times! 5 out of the top 6…
