ParticipantSo I got a GoPro for Christmas, now the question is where can I mount it? I am interested in using it for AutoX and HPDE. I hear the suction cup is excellent for outside shots, and even works for inside the car usage when attached to the sunroof (of which I have). Will the GoPro seat post mounts fit an E90 headrest post?
Any other advice?

InactiveIf you don’t have a rollbar I would suggest on the door/quarterpanel window directly behind the driver.
Here’s an example:
I’ve tried headrest mounts in my e36 but I always found the stock seat bobbled around way too much. Maybe on your newer car they are more sturdy.

ParticipantGet a long (mine is 12ft ) 3.5-inch audio cable and a small lapel mic to put near the exhaust or in the engine bay. Otherwise you’ll just get wind noise at speed. If you have the new HDHero 3, you’ll also need an adapter cable from GoPro.

I second this. The video I posted uses basically the same technique. I’m using a $60 Audio Technica PRO24-CM mic with a magnet mount on bottom of the trunk. Works great, zero wind noise. I should mention that there is some discussion whether or not the GoPro cameras can provide voltage to an external mic. I’ve read competing theories from employees so I went with the Audio Technica because it is self powered with a small battery.

ParticipantI think it’s powered, but I’m not 100% and couldn’t find any consensus on this either. The mic I bought doesn’t have a battery
This is the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007N55K0/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00
