Thanks to the AutoX team for putting on such a great season and TDS. It was a well oiled event with a very fun course(s) to drive.

My two big take aways form yesterday’s event were:

1. I have to practice to be competitive
2. Praneil’s tires are the quietest on the course….hmmmmmmmm……

Do you have a link to the accessory? Last time we were at the track a friend had professional thermal imaging camera that we found useful for measuring tire and brake pad temps. It’s a bit pricey to just take it out for the occasional car thing.

And an interesting picture I took:

Well done Don! After your first run I thought you were going to knock another 3 seconds off, but 6! Wow! You made a lot of progress in one day.

I had scored one of the X-class Evo runs as a DSQ as opposed to a DNF. This was done intentionally as the driver did not hear/ignored starter instructions that they would not receive a re-run and took one anyways. I see that it was changed to a DNF.
As I get them, I move people in. You’ll get notified if/when I can move you. After reg closes tomorrow I’ll let those who didn’t make it in know for sure. There have only been 3 since we sold out a week ago.

Interesting statistic: we had 90 people registered within the first week, 60 of which came within the first few days after reg opened.

We must be doing something right.
Yes, I got caught a bit off guard by how fast if it filled up. I had figured a week and half ahead of time would leave plenty of margin to get in. That was wrong. I think I was #104 last week, so maybe I have a shot at getting in. Good to know for next time.

It seems like the attendances are higher this year. I wonder if it is from holding the first cart control clinic of the year at Candlestick in conjunction with the first non-compete AutoX the next day?

Wow, I get the feeling that class B is going to be very competitive this year. With my first born daughter on the way, looks like I won’t get a chance to be a part of the dog fight this year for a season podium finish. The kid is a good excuse to upgrade my wife’s Scion beater to an X1, so she’s not totally cramping my car style. I hear that you need to get your kid in a go-cart by age 4.

In case I don’t show up too much more this year, it was really great learning and competing with everyone! I really enjoyed it. It’s also been interesting to run into AutoX people at other track events. I’ll be at the advanced car control clinic if anyone else is going. That knowledge will come in too late!

Looks like I dropped a point to 46. Time to mod up the car with one of those air filters that add 8HP.

What’s up with Jeff’s Magnium PI Ferrari?

Yup, we’ll use the highly scientific process of determining which tire is better by changing three variables at once:

1. Tire
2. Car
3. Driver

That’ll settle it! Screw you Car and Driver!

I just changed to Pilot Super Sports after passing on Star Spec Direzas based on the infamous Car and Driver extreme performance tire comparison article. We’ll have to settle this question in Class B with cones.

Here, here! Congrats to the TDS champion Praniel, the TDS finalists, and season class winners! More than anything, thanks to all the people running the AutoX events, volunteers, and coaches. It really is a fun community to be around that has encouraged my interest in motorsports.

WHEW! Only one spot left! I signed up for spot 59!

I am glad to be back after missing the last three AutoX’s.

People should definitely check their results. I had multiple DNF’s that were not recorded, however my best time was scored correctly. Whew….my worst outing of the season. So much for homefield advantage. I better re-read that posting on AutoCrossing with precision and accuracy.
