this usually happens when the numbers on the cars are not big, clear, and contrasting or a 2 driver car. Example is Buhlinder Sethi #20 was mistaken as #120.

The car had big enough numbers, but it wasn’t clear where one started and the other ended. To us in the trailer, it looked like 4120. There were attempts to cross out part of the number, but that won’t clear, we though just the 4 was crossed out to make 120.

I’ll add that numbers are important, if you want your runs scored accurately. Ask yourself if you could read the number from all the way across the Marina site, that could be up to 500ft. If you have two numbers, are you making it totally obvious to the person at 500ft which one is crossed out.

I’m wondering if MMS has approved this idea or if SCCA guy took it upon himself to do this? I have to say, this is a very sensitive situation and too many cooks could ruin the soup.

We’ve been told to keep out of the sensitive situation before, so it was only when I saw it was Isaac posting this that I decided it must be a good idea.

Unfortunatly I missed the last SCCA steering committee meeting so I don’t know if this has been discussed. The next meeting is tomorrow, so I should be able to find out any story behind this then.

Dave Sparks is listed in X class, but in a 76 point Z4. That would have won him AAA if its right.

Cathy’s first run is listed as “30.403+DSQ”, we never got any time, but there was nothing which would have caused a DSQ. (And why DSQ?)

Not that it matters, but her third run is listed as 55.164+2, but she had 4 cones, one at the right angle and 3 at the finish.

That’s how I post links, just paste the link in to the body, not use the link tags.

If the SCCA had Marina the day after, we’d be running that, and it wouldn’t have been cancelled. The SCCA had Oakland Coliseum, and the Warriors are managing to have a home game that day.

The entry list currently says 121 entires. We just signed for the waitlist, so I’m assuming there are 21 people ahead of us. I didn’t think we’d make it to this one as the SCCA was on the day after, but that’s been cancelled. It sounds unlikely we’ll get to this one either.

I’ve found the Rivals to be a bit faster than the RE-11. Though I’m not sure how much the extra 20mm the Rivals have contribute to that. If we can find a dry weekend, I’m going to test some ZII vs Rivals.

The DW do really well in the wet, that’s what we used last weekend in a downpour. I beat he guy on ZIIs by over a second, usually he’s in front of me. I like the DW tires for street tires, very civilised.

I excerpted a couple of clips of video and blew them up a bit: http://btwyx.com/Movies/AxBMWFunQuad.mov

There’s no time stamps on the video, the file shows they’re 10:04 and 10:54 as mentioned about. I can make stills if you need them instead.

I think the yellow car that’s been mentioned was a fork lift. I have video of that as well.

I looked through my video. What I thought was the bike looks like a quad instead. It drove up and down at 10:06 while I was on grid for my first run. The quad is trailered and the RV drives over towards the kart track at 10:54. The video I have is pretty good, I was parked pointing directly at the hanger, and close to that end.

Cathy says she remember’s the bike but doesn’t think it was while she was starting (so would have had the best view) during RG1. She was parked a lot further away for RG3, so I can’t see if anything was happening.

I saw the bike, but I’m not remembering it during RG2. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t in the trailer when it happened (and I was in the trailer all RG2). I’ll have a look at our video, I have coverage from RG1 and 3.
