What is the minimum tread wear rating allowed for summer tires in the classification system? 200 or 140 or ?? Also, is the 110 wear rating referenced for DOT-R tires on the classification page current?

According to the classification system documentation summer tire treadwear is anything 110 or higher, so 140 and 200 are all valid summer tire options.

I believe the less than 110 treadwear for r-comps was chosen as the middle value in between the typical 140 as the “sticky” summer tire and the 100 as the “hard” r-comp.

SCCA considers street tires anything over 200 now. That number is a moving target and the manufacturer’s just restamp the next batch of tires with the current requirements.
